Coolibah Coolective play original songs that deliver heartfelt sentiment crafted into music with a wide appeal, drawing on the classics, rock ballads, chill grooves, blues, folk, and Caribbean rhythms.
Iconic Australian stories feature in the repertoire, such as ‘Stick Shed’ (Cathedral of Wimmera), ‘Sixty-Six Days in an Open Boat’ (about escaped convict Mary Bryant stealing Governor Phillip’s fishing boat), ‘Hometown’ (what it feels like to return to the town you grew up in), and music interpretations of prose and poetry.
The band play a mix of baritone, tenor, and bass instruments complimented with djembe and cajon.
The video shows us busking at the Sly Fox Community Christmas Market, Saturday 19th December 2020. The two songs performed are "The Road Not Taken" (words by Robert Frost, music by Paul Marsh) and "Home Town", (words and music by Paul Marsh)
The band members are (from left to right in the video) Jim, James, Merarth, Joanne, Paul and Rod.
